In addition to free assessments, inpatient care, and detox treatment services, Hendricks Behavioral Hospital provides an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults. These programs are more intense and frequent than traditional outpatient counseling.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a level of care that is less intensive than PHP, while still providing comprehensive treatment for individuals suffering from mental illness or substance use disorder. The IOP program generally meets at a minimum, three times a week, for approximately three hours per session. Patients maintain their current residence and present for treatment, which provides important support for a successful recovery and helps prevent relapse. The program allows individuals to transition back into everyday life, work, and family commitments.
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a level of care that provides intense, five days a week, for approximately 5 hours per session. In PHP, patients maintain their current residence and are present for treatment each day.
Both programs can be a step down from the 24-hour inpatient level of care or they can be utilized to prevent, avert or reduce the need for inpatient hospitalization.
IOP and PHP provide therapeutic groups, education groups, medication management, and individual support.
Next-day admission in most cases is possible. You will meet with a psychiatrist during the first week in a group therapy setting, in a variety of psychodynamic, educational, and process groups. At the end of your treatment, discharge planning is done to identify further resources for your continued recovery. Prior hospitalization is not required to qualify for the program.
Aside from the clinical value of the IOP and PHP programs at Hendricks Behavioral Hospital, the atmosphere and groups provide ongoing social support that contributes greatly to your recovery.
